Top Priority: Fall Staples

I come from New England, the land of crazy cold and subsequently lots of layering.  Every time fall rolls around your first instinct should be to shop.  If that's not the case, why are you reading my blog?  This is made much easier if you already have all the things you ABSOLUTELY NEED.  Then there's lots of money left over for things you definitely don't need and probably won't want in another month.  Which is fun.  Let's dive in.

The Military Jacket: Military-inspired fashion has been around since the latter half of the 20th century.  Fashion experts (and me, but who cares?) believe that this style is timeless because of its lasting presence.  Because you can wear them with just about anything, they are a must.

Classic: Theory

Distressed: Anthropologie

Updated (on sale!): Ralph Lauren

Oversized: ASOS

Leather Bomber: DKNY

The Trench: The trench coat is probably the most timeless thing you can own, so it's good to invest.  I admittedly don't step very far outside the box on this matter but I'll try to be creative for you guys.

Classic: London Fog

With a Twist: Barbour

A Little Extra Flare: ASOS

A Splash of Color: Via Spiga

Different Textures: New York & Company

The Navy Blazer: This is the most important thing you can own.  End of story.  It's an important piece that you will always wear so feel free to spend a little more on it.

Classic: Brooks Brothers

Pinstripe: J.Crew

Studded: Plein Sud

Colorblocked: Bailey 44

Jersey: Mango

The Chunky Sweater: There is literally nothing better in the world than throwing on a chunky sweater with an infinity scarf and having lunch at a café in the fall.

Classic: Duffy

Oversized: 525 America

Cowl Neck: Need Supply Co.

The Cardigan: Nasty Girl

Patterned: Mango

Leggings: Leggings are weird because I used to hate them but now I don't.  Largely because  a few years ago when people started wearing leggings all the time it was due to laziness and now we've become a lot more inventive with our leggings style so it's all good.

Classic: Calvin Klein

Jodhpur: C Wonder

Tuxedo (these are HUGE right now): David Lerner

Leather (on SUPER sale): Helmut Lang

Patterned: DVF

Equestrian Boots: Because I am was an equestrian at one time.  Because of this, I had a huge chip on my shoulder for many years because I felt that everyone who wore them was a stupid poser.  Which is still largely true but I've resigned myself to loving them outside the barn because they really are just f-ing chic.

Classic: Tory Burch

The Most Authentic: Franco Sarto

Two-Toned: Tommy Hilfiger

Suede: Marc by Marc Jacobs

And My Personal Favorite: Frye

The Infinity Scarf: Almost a year ago, my darling friend Brenna came to visit.  It was almost cold, but she is also a native New Englander so she came prepared with scarves.  Like dozens of scarves.  It was insane.  And I wore a different one every day and it is because of her that I fell in love with the infinity scarf.

Classic: Modcloth

Tartan (A Fall MUST): Ralph Lauren

Colorblocked: Vince

Fur: Yves Salomon

Cashmere: Nordstrom
