What's New: Tina & Amy Rule the World, Gwyneth is Cranky From Not Eating, etc.

Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope:
I am completely in love with both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.  I am not a huge SNL fan.  I know that's super unpopular to say, but I just can't.  I'm sorry.  I've tried.  But I do love 30 Rock more than anything on Earth and Parks & Rec is a close second.
Anywayyyy great news!  Tina and Amy have officially signed on to host not only the 2014 Golden Globes, but 2015's as well.  This is AMAZING.

Gwyneth:
Gwyneth is crazy.  I love her and I think she's amazing but she's bonkers.  Anyway, a little while ago, Vanity Fair was writing an article about her and she didn't like it and got pissed and e-mailed all of her famous friends telling them to not talk about her to reporters and never do VF again.  Lovely.  Well NOW, VF Editor-in-Chief is FOR SURE running a "take down piece", exposing the real Gwyneth.  After she threw a fit he was even more set on running it which is funny.  I personally cannot wait.  Good luck, Goop Queen!

Leo Has A New GF?:
Last time I checked he was dating Toni Garnn when the two were spotted together at the US Open in September but I guess not.  Now Leonardo DiCaprio is supposedly dating 24-year old nobody model Kat Torres.  Well, according to her.  She says they met when they stayed at the same house at the Cannes film festival.  She told a Brazilian reporter they have a 'secrecy pact' and she can't talk about their relationship.  Not a great sign for her.  Leo's people are saying that it's all made up and they're not dating.  Awesome.

Leo, crawl on your hands and knees to Bar and do everything you can to win her back.

Are you kidding me?

Style Icon: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung is fabulous.  She used to be on MTV which is lame but she's English which is cool.  She is also a model and a contributing editor for British Vogue, which is awesome.  PLUS, people have discussed a lot whether she is anorexic, and when that starts happening, you know you're awesome. (See Keira Knightley)

Alexa Chung has her own distinct style, is always in the front row at fashion week, had a bag named after her.  Plus she wears Topshop all the time.

Mulberry's "Alexa" Bag

Anna Wintour called her "a phenomenon."
Karl Lagerfeld called her "beautiful and clever...a modern girl."
And the NYTimes called her "the Kate Moss of the new generation", which isn't true but is a lovely sentiment.  Kate Moss is the Kate Moss of every generation.

My favorite thing in the world as you (should) know, is menswear.  Alexa Chung LOVES menswear.  First we'll look at some of my favorite more feminine looks, then work our way to androgyny.

Women Who've Shaped History: Jane Birkin

Jane Birkin, English actor and singer is probably best known for her relationship with Serge Gainsbourg, the iconic French musician.  Their daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg, is an incredibly talented actress (and singer), appearing in several films directed by weirdo Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier.

But fashion-lovers know Jane Birkin as the inspiration for perhaps the most famous handbag in fashion history, the 'Birkin Bag', made by Hermès.

In 1981, Jean-Louis Demas, the then-artistic director of Hermès (whose family founded Hermès in 1837) sat next to Ms. Birkin on a flight from Paris to London.  While trying to secure her handbag, the contents spilled out all over the plane, and she told Demas how difficult it was to find a leather bag she liked.

So in 1984, he created the perfect bag for her.  And now the most coveted bag in the world is the 'Birkin Bag'.

Footnote: Kim Kardashian RUINED the Birkin Bag by buying a billion of them and using them as diaper bags.  No shit.
